Quantum of Solace

Lately, I'm really excited in planning our family activities during the weekend or holidays. Maybe it's because both my children d ah besar sedikit dan dah boleh berjalan , so lebih mudah untuk bawa jalan-jalan dan beg pun taklah besar sangat macam masa baby hehehe . One more reason maybe it's because MH kurang kena  outstation or kerja during weekend/public holidays lately, so it's more fun for us to plan our family activity.  During the CNY holiday, we went to KL Bird Park .  Before we went there, I did a little online research about this place. It got great reviews from international visitors, which put me to shame because I'd never been there. Sometimes, we tend to take things for granted just because we live there, right? I’m not exactly a spontaneous type of person. I like to be prepared for almost anything – thus, I’m a firm believer of ‘to-do-list’. For any occasion, be it work or outside work related, I will definitely grab a pen and a piece of paper and start scribbling what I need for that particular occasion dutifully. If I have the luxury of time, I will even make small headings and compartmentalized all the details. And yes, that include listing all the stuff that I need to bring whenever I’m going for a trip, be it for business or for leisure. The list is a must. I remember my lists for the outdoor modules during my DPA days could be as long as 2-page-full, with subheadings like – clothes (plus the matching pants and hijab to go with it!), stationery, emergency, food etc. So how would I react if I was caught off hand without my list? Owh, I haven't share in here yet that during m y trip to New York I had a chance to meet a few famous people, and here there are........ I met with the President and the First Lady! Tyra asked me to join the next season of America's Next Top Model! I got the chance to catch up with my former group mates too! I took the time to straightened things out with Angelina, I was not the third person in their Brangellina story.... Who want the ol' Brad Pitt anyway, because I have Hugh Grant with me! Sempat juga bergossip-gossipan bersama Kak J.Lo ! But it was not all play, I had to get down to busines s anyway... Like handing over to Bush surat berhenti kerja dia.... Teach Einstein a thing or two about grooming... Playing host with the Clintons.... Discussing women issues with Oprah... and meeting with Bill Gates... US Capitol Farmer's Market at Dupont Circle There was nothing much to say about DC, except for its gorgeous scenery, famous historical sites and of course the White House. I was hoping to bump into the President or at least the elegant First Lady, but no luck. Our tourist guide told us that just the other week, the President went to his daughter's soccer match and nobody had expected that. Nice!

As if travelling to U.S. is not long enough, my first trip took me longer. Here’s my itinerary: KL – Singapore (overnight) – Tokyo - LA - Washington. Basically it took us about 22 hours on flight and another 17 hours on the ground for transit. But then again, it took me almost a year to participate in this IVL Programme starting from the nomination, interview, and screenings at various levels up to completing the online visa application and finally be there. Despite the claustrophobic experience in the U*ited Airlines flight, I look forward for the transit in LA as I got to meet my lil’ brother who’s staying there. Alhamdulillah the Immigration process went on smoothly, but I suspect that we spent a little bit more time at the counter than other people. No prize for guessing it’s because of the same issue. And because of the same thing, we'll be the same people who will get random body search at the security gate. Random sangatlah tu.. Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) ...

I’m writing this entry from Taipei and it has been 8 days now since I left KL. And only God knows how I miss home and right now I’m really craving for meat!! You see, I’m here for a workshop and the organizer have to cater for 20 participants from 16 different countries. So with such diversity of nationalities and all, I just opt for vegetarian food, to avoid any hassle for the organizer. Furthermore, I don’t want the others to think that it is difficult to be a Muslim. So I have veggies for lunch and dinner and I guess I’ve tasted all kind of veggies that Taiwan has. And while the veggies are tasty, sweet and fresh-mind you that Taiwan has the freshest agriculture products and of very excellent quality, but still it can’t replace the juicy- berlemak taste of meat. And as I’m writing this, I’m really craving for a Big Mac and nasi lemak rendang ayam…. And here’s what I have had for my meals so far………………… Korean Style Ve...

January 14-17, 2008 If my recent trip to Singapore was a last minute arrangement, this Hong Kong trip lagilah.. I got only two days to be prepared for this trip which was actually a continuation of the one that we had in Singapore, even the delegation consisted of the same people. It was not usual for people in my line to be working in Hong Kong, artis2 pun pegi sana for shopping je ! Even the flight attendant asked what I am doing there. Upon my arrival at the new airport, the security inspections included a big brown dog sniffing at my bags ( seram tau!), automatic body temperature sensor (they are very cautious since the SAR outbreak) and a long queue at the Immigration. My room was fantastic! Mine was at the 47th floor, so I got great view of the city especially at night. And even if the Continental-Imperial décor was not really much to my liking, their attention to detail was very impressive. January 6-7, 2008 It was a last minute arrangement that I had to go to Singapore over the weekend. Even though it was only a 2-days-1-night thing, but the fact that I didn’t know anyone else from the delegation had made me really nervous, as my worst traveling nightmare would be arriving at an unfamiliar place without anyone waiting for me at the airport. So I’d requested to have the same flight arrangement as the head of the delegation, so bolehlah tumpang-tumpang whatever VIP treatment that he’s getting...hehehe! Actually Singapore was not really a distant place for me, as my father was born and bred there. As a child, I had been there a couple of times before, but that was about 20 years back, long before they got Sentosa Island and all. But we still have some relatives living there. I was the most junior in the lot; even the secretariat lady possesses a slightly higher grade than my immediate boss at the office. However, all of them were very nice and I had no trouble at all ...
